Tumeric Does A Body Good
Turmeric is one of nature’s extraordinary roots. Think beyond curry. This earthy spice has numerous healing applications, and as an ingredient, is one of the most natural anti-inflammatories.
Turmeric comes from the root of Curcuma longa, a leafy plant in the ginger family. What I am most familiar with is ground turmeric, which comes from fingers that extend from the root. It is boiled or steamed and then dried, and ground.
I love the brilliant yellow color and quickly found out it can be used as a dye. From fingers to shirt, it was a lesson I don’t need to repeat. This ancient spice has also been used for medicinal purposes since 600 BC. It is mildly aromatic and has scents of orange or ginger, but can be slightly bitter. I tend to like bitter, but it’s not for everyone.
Since we seem to be smoothie nation these days, give this one a try. It’s vegan, paleo, and gluten and dairy free.

Mix the flour and turmeric.
Mix 1 tablespoon of the flour mixture with 5-7 drops of your selected oil and just enough water to make a paste.
Smooth the mixture on your face and neck, avoiding the eyes.
Let the mixture remain on your face until it dries (about 15 minutes) and then wash it off with warm water.
Recommend wearing a shirt and clothing you don’t mind staining. You never know and it’s better to be safe on this one.
P.S. Everyday Botanicals body lotions also do a body good – your skin will feel nourished and soft. I personally like yuzu and mint.
