Centuries ago, civilization’s first-ever beauty rituals were all natural, created with practicality in mind to promote good health and hygiene. Men and women from the ancient Ottoman Empire used scented oils and ointments to clean and soften their skin, mask body odor and protect themselves from hot sun and dry winds. Yes, these natural botanicals and essential oils were all utilized back then because people had no other choice—but these basic ingredients in their purest forms worked wonders. 

Fast-forward many centuries: When we were growing up, our mothers respected these ancient ideals and always took a more natural approach to beauty and healing; eating mint, exfoliating with clay and adding almond oil to shampoo was all customary. In our early days of caring for people’s skin and hair, our focus became enhancing products with natural ingredients for better results…or, just creating our own formulas from scratch.

Decades of working in the beauty industry allowed us to test many types of products on the market, and we knew we wanted to create something better.
